As of April 1,2001,the National Research Institute for Metals(NRIM) and the
National Institute for Research in Inorganic Materials(NIRIM) were integrated
into one organization and started as the National Institute for Materials Science(NIMS),an
independent administrative institution.NIMS thus intends to comprehensively promote
researches in the materials research fields that require intensive collaboration
and competition,such as nano-materials,superconductors,biomaterials and environmental
materials,in view of people's safety and pease of mind,from the stand point of
materials.Other materials which are new to NIMS,such as organic materials will
also be positively looked into for the future. |
