National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology(AIST)was established to create new industries through the development of leading-edge technologies,to solve long term problems common to all mankind such as worldwide depletion of energy resources and environmental issues:and to develop and maintain industrial technology which is one of the key infrastructures that support the society.AIST undertakes research in various fields,many of them in collaboration with universities and the industrial sector,thereby promoting transfer of technology and to better serve the needs of the society.
