MRI, as an associate institute of the Japan Meteorological Agency, is engaged in analysing and predicting meteorological, geophysical and oceanographic phenomena, for example, unusual weather, climatic change, typhoons, heavy rainfall (or snowfall), earthquakes, volcanic activities, oceanic condition, wind waves, and so on, as well as aiming at the development and introduction of extensive associated technology.
